Keeping a good level of health and fitness is important for all of us, no matter what our age might be. However senior fitness will not necessarily need to be as strenuous and may also need to consider other ongoing illness or weaknesses that the person might have.
Just by doing a little gentle exercise each day you can see an almost instant improvement on your general health and well being. It can also increase your flexibility, your energy and also even your confidence. Although you might have something holding you back such as an illness, this need not be an issue if you exercise carefully.
Exercise can benefit those of all ages and with all health conditions. For those who aren't as independent as they would like to be, exercise can help vastly. By improving your flexibility and your energy levels you will give yourself this new feeling of independence and it could even prolong your life.
With stronger muscles and improved balance you will be able to enjoy much more of your life. You need not hang up your hiking boots just yet, lots of seniors still enjoy the outdoors just as much as they did fifty years ago, lest with a few more wrinkles on their faces than before, but with equal well being.
Your mind will be more alert, you will have much greater energy throughout your normal day and you should feel more content within yourself. Despite making you healthier and likely to live even longer, aspects such as this are what really matters.
Exercise does not need to be down at the gym, sweating away for hours. Try to combine exercise with playing with the grandchildren, gardening or taking long walks. These are all things that you would be doing anyway so why not benefit from them?
